Marios Lysandrou
He comes from Famagusta. Since he was a little boy, he started taking private lessons in music. In 1986 he received the LTCL Performer’s Diploma in guitar, of the Trinity College of Music, London, with Stefanos Zymboulakis as his teacher. The same here he obtained a position at the Pedagogical Academy of Cyprus (PAC) from which he graduated with distinction in 1989. In 1988, still a student of PAC, he represented Cyprus along with other five students at the European Student Music Festival in Bonn, West Germany. In 1993, after he received a full scholarship from Fulbright, he went to the USA to study music. In 1995, he received his Bachelor’s degree (Bachelor of Music) from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with distinction. In 1997 he returned to the USA for graduate studies again with a scholarship from Fulbright. After he received his Master’s degree (Master of Music) he returned to Cyprus. In 2000 he received a Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education from the University of Athens with distinction. Since 1999 he conducts the Larnaca Progressive Movement Choir. With his choir he took part in many choral festivals in Cyprus and abroad. He also conducts the children’s choir of POED Larnaca. He works as a music teacher in Secondary Education.
